And then there were four...

Sometimes life throws things at us, both good and bad. Giving up for one is heartbreaking, receiving for another is a blessing. This time a friend's heart was broken but is healing and working on being at peace. We were the receivers of the blessing, Joe.

Joe has joined our small herd of boys here at the Lazy Dog Ranch. All of whom he has shared a pasture with in the past. Joe is 19, a thoroughbred racehorse, therapy horse, 15.5 hands, and now retired!

Joe believes in the all natural form of fly repellant - splash and roll in the pond followed by a roll in some dirt. Super sweet, playful, and loves to run!

I had just gotten to where I could tell Troy and Pi apart. Having shed their winter coats it's very obvious. Troy is black, Pi is a seal bay, Joe is a very dark seal, and Happy Jack stands out as the only chestnut. If they were in the closer horse pasture I could tell because Joe has no markings. Being in the pond pasture it takes me a bit longer. (We're leasing the horse pasture for hay and having the pond to cool off in during the summer is best for the boys.) S'okay, all is good... I still look out the window and am thrilled to think "I have horses!"
